I do not like the sounds this book has. Many other disney sound books sing the popular songs or make sounds that are very familiar to the movie. This book does not. Maui makes an odd sound and the song is a very short clip and is not very satisfactory. My 2 year old daughter doesn't seem to mind though. I would purchase a book like this again if the sound effects were better but I would not recommend this to someone else. Wait until they come out with a better one.
My daughter loves this book. I'm very pleased and we read it every night. One thing I would've liked to have known in advance (so I'll share it here) is what sounds the buttons make. The only one that actually talks with a "human" voice is Moana. She says the line, "I am Moana of Motunui!" Ocean button: makes wave sounds. Maui button: a rumbling noise, kind of like when he shapeshifts I think. Gramma Talla: Catchy short little pan flute tune. Pua: oinks. Hei Hei: clucks. Kakamura: hollow clicky sound.
Super cute book, but kind of disappointing because the only character that talks on this book is moana, the rest are just nature sounds. Also, I purchased another Moana book with noises and it made the same exact noises even though it has more buttons. I would like to see more from the actual characters and less from nature. The quality of the book was good, but the story was really short and basically the same as the other book.
The book is pretty good, except for the fact that Maui doesn't say anything when you press the button. Instead it makes some weird noise. It's almost like The Rock did not give consent for his voice to be used for the book so they used some weird music/noise in place of that? Kind of lame but otherwise my daughter likes the book.
The Maui character does not speak. It is an ocean sound when you push the button with his picture. Very disappointed.
I never thought about needing to read reviews on this type of book, but I wish I would have. As everyone else said, the sound effects are very disappointing. When looking through the book, the sounds make even less sense.Usually in these types of books, the sound effects take the place of words in the story. This one does not do that. The Moana button said, "I am Moana of Montunui." The first line of the book says, "I am Moana." Then shows the picture. So, when you are reading it to your child, it will read "I am Moana. I am Moana of Montunui."My 2 year old daughter will love it nonetheless, or else I would send it back.
Super disappointed. The buttons just make sounds. There are no songs. The Moana button says “I’m Moana...â€. The pig makes a pig noise. The Maui one makes a swooshing noise. The grandma one makes an ocean noise. My kids were expecting music like their similar Frozen book that plays the theme song. They were bored with this book after 1 minute.
Nice quality book. My 32 month old granddaughter is a big Moana fan. Easy for her to play with but sturdy enough so that doesn't rip or tear easily.
